SolBear
SolBear is essentially the combination of the word “Sun” in Spanish and a bear, a spirit animal that represents strength, confidence and compassion. This name aptly encapsulates our hope to spread optimism and love amongst the student body. More importantly, we also wish to illuminate and enrich the school life in Hwa Chong, injecting enthusiasm and providing a pillar of support amidst the rigor of the school curriculum.
The Sun - otherwise known as Sol - represents our desire to brighten up the school with our exuberance, bringing warmth to the students. We decided on a bear as a representative of us because just as councillors may come off as slightly intimidating/stern characters, they are actually really friendly and are the epitome of resilience and tenderness.
In hopes of becoming a true Sunshine, this pliable, impressionable (and somewhat naive) boy went bald. If you squint hard enough, you probably would notice light rays reflecting off his shiny scalp. His scalp shines like a beacon in a dark ocean, testament to his ability to lead and guide.
