Athene is the generic name of many different species of owls, the sacred animal of the goddess of wisdom, Athena. This symbolises our wisdom and expertise when it comes to serving the school community, ensuring that their welfare is taken care of. It also displays our willingness to take flight and soar, bringing our school and council to greater heights, providing a fulfilling and eventful journey for students and councillors alike.

Moreover, Athene sounds like ethene, a chemical compound which can form strong bonds. To build strong bonds among councillors and students, we not only need strong chemistry, but the ability to form the right relationships, bringing a win-win situation to both parties.

This would require lots of bonding, thus accounting for the “poly” in front of Athene. Like a polymer in chemistry, monomers of ethene link up infinitely to form polyethene, showing the unending potential of our council and our school, and how together we can forge ahead infinitely. This is our hope for the group, as well as the entire school cohort.
